The United States has denied that one of its aircrafts was shot down in Bushehr province of Iran.
This contradicts an earlier claim by Iranian media that Tehran had destroyed a hostile aircraft in the area, which is the site of the country’s only nuclear power plant.
According to the semi-official Tasnim news agency, the governor of Jam county in Bushehr province, Masoud Tangestani, said following the alleged downing of the aircraft, Iran remained in a normal state.
Meanwhile, earlier on Thursday, Iranian media reported that Iranian air defenses shot down a US drone over the southern province of Bushehr.
A military source cited by the semi-official Tasnim news agency stated that the drone was intercepted and destroyed by a surface-to-air missile.
Tangestani confirmed the aircraft’s destruction, noting that the situation in the district had returned to normal.
