SCAM ALERT: PROTECT YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION — MTN Ghana

MTN Ghana wishes to encourage its valued customers to protect themselvesfrom scams and phishing attacks by never clicking on suspicious links received via WhatsApp, SMS or websites. Scammers often send messages pretending to be from trusted sources like family and friends, banks, government agencies, or companies, urging you to “verify your account,” “claim a prize,” or “update information.”

Please follow these simple guidelines to keep your account and data secure:

• Don’t Click Hastily: Avoid clicking on links sent via WhatsApp, SMS or email from unknown numbers or sources you don’t recognize.

• Beware of Urgency: Be skeptical of messages that create a sense of panic, offer “too good to be true” prizes, or demand immediate action to “verify your account.”

• Look for the Padlock: Before entering sensitive info on a website, ensure the URL starts with https:// and shows a secure padlock icon in the browser bar.

• Verify the sender independently—don’t reply to the message or use provided contact info.

• Avoid links promising urgent action, money, or deals that seem too good to be true.

• Use official apps or websites directly instead.

• If you suspect a scam, report it to us or local authorities. Your security is our priority!

MTN Ghana will never ask for your password, PIN, or full credit card details via a text link or social media message.

If you encounter a suspicious link or believe your information has been compromised, please contact our support team immediately via 100 or report to the police on 0800311311.
