AG’s media trial against Adu Boahene unlawful, says lawyer Kwesi Botchway Jr

Kwesi Botchway Jnr., a legal practitioner and NPP communicator, has criticized Attorney-General Dr. Dominic Ayine for conducting a media trial against Kwabena Adu-Boahene, former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau.

In an interview with Asempa FM, Botchway condemned the public handling of the case, stating that the Attorney-General should prosecute in court, not in the media. He warned that this conduct risks prejudicing the trial and undermines judicial credibility.

Botchway emphasized the need for fair trials within legal frameworks, cautioning against emotional and political interference.

Meanwhile, the Accra High Court has remanded Adu-Boahene into EOCO custody for seven days after revoking his GHC 80 million bail. The remand is to allow the Attorney-General’s office to finalize witness statements.

Adu-Boahene and his wife, Angela Adjei-Boateng, are accused of embezzling $7 million under a fake cyber defense contract with Israeli firm ISC Holdings. The funds were allegedly funneled through their private company, with most used for personal gain.

The case resumes on May 13, 2025.
