TYLA is taking South African energy to the global stage after being confirmed as part of the opening celebrations for the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The Grammy winning star is set to headline the opening ceremony in Mexico City on 11 June at Estadio Azteca, performing ahead of the highly anticipated opening match between Bafana-Bafana (South Africa) team and Mexico.
Tyla’s World Cup run will continue the following day in Los Angeles, where she is expected to join a stacked lineup that includes Katy Perry and Rema as part of the USA’s opening celebrations.
For the first time in tournament history, FIFA will launch the World Cup through three separate opening ceremonies across the host nations, Mexico, the United States and Canada, reflecting the scale of what is expected to be the biggest World Cup yet.
Canada’s celebration, taking place in Toronto, will also feature major names including Michael Bublé, Alessia Cara and Alanis Morissette.
For Tyla, it’s another reminder to say she’s on the global stage.
