From R64.99 to R69.99…Spotify increases subscription prices in South Africa

Spotify announced this week that it will increase its monthly subscription price in South Africa from September 2025.

The price increase will affect markets across South Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Latin America, and the Asia-Pacific region.

Spotify price changes in South Africa: 

• Individual Premium: New price R69.99 (Old price R64.99)
• Duo Plan: New price R94.99
• Family Plan: New price R119.99 (Old price R99.99)
• Student Plan: New price R37.99 (Old price R34.99)

Spotify addressed the changes in a statement, explaining that price adjustments are part of its ongoing strategy to improve the service.

The company said it updates prices “to continue to innovate on our product offerings and features and bring users the best experience.”
