Medikal Responds to Harassment Allegations Following Evandy-Bani Hall Performance
On June 14, 2025, Ghanaian rapper Medikal came under fire following an incident during a live performance at Evandy-Bani Hall Week at the University of Ghana. He was accused of harassing a female student on stage—a claim he has strongly denied in a video response.
According to Medikal, the incident stemmed from an invitation he extended to the student to join him on stage for a dance. He later changed his mind, he said, after learning that she had a boyfriend. During their brief interaction, Medikal hugged the student, and in the process, his hand accidentally touched her backside, he claimed.
“I wasn’t even looking when I hugged her,” he explained, emphasizing that the touch was unintentional. He firmly rejected the harassment allegations, urging critics not to “label him unfairly” and stating that he has deep respect for all individuals, regardless of gender.
A video clip from the event shows the female student appearing visibly uncomfortable—covering her mouth and stepping back following the hug. This moment triggered a wave of backlash on social media, with some users demanding accountability and even legal action.
Public opinion has been sharply divided. While some social media users criticized Medikal’s response and questioned the sincerity of his explanation, others called for a more measured perspective, highlighting the possibility of a misunderstanding.
