Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouattara shared his thoughts following his side’s hard-fought 1-0 victory over Berekum Chelsea, acknowledging the quality of the opposition and the effort it took to secure all three points.
The decisive goal came in the 56th minute, courtesy of Mawuli Wayo, as the ‘Phobians’ extended their unbeaten run to four matches. The win lifts them to sixth place in the league standings with 49 points—just eight points adrift of the top spot.
Speaking in a post-match interview, Ouattara admitted the match was a tough challenge, especially given Berekum Chelsea’s recent form.
“This match was not easy,” he said. “Berekum Chelsea are a strong side. They just played in the FA Cup semi-finals and came into this match with high motivation and experienced players.”
Despite the challenge, Ouattara credited his team’s preparation and tactical execution.
“We analyzed their strengths and prepared ourselves to counter them. We also took advantage of their weaknesses, which helped us secure the victory.”
Looking ahead, Hearts of Oak will shift focus to their upcoming fixture against Accra Lions this weekend, aiming to maintain their momentum as the season nears its climax.
