South Africa is mourning the death of veteran actor Seputla Sebogodi (62), who passed away on Wednesday, 15 July 2026.
His family confirmed his passing in a statement on Thursday, 16 July 2026, following complications related to diabetes.
The family announced Sebogodi’s passing “with profound sadness,” confirming that he died on the evening of 15 July 2026 following “complications related to diabetes.” They also “kindly request privacy” as they mourn their loss and navigate this difficult time together.
Sebogodi built an impressive career across both television and theatre, starring in well-known productions including Generations, Suburban Bliss, Bophelo ke Semphego, Redemption, and most recently Scandal!
He also left a lasting mark on the stage with acclaimed performances in Big Dada, Waiting for Godot, The Rivonia Trial, Once a Pirate, and Mooi Street Moves, among many others.
