To many Christians, Heaven represents one of humanity’s oldest and most universal attempts to comprehend death, provide comfort in the face of mortality, and establish moral order on earth; and to many Islam faithfuls, Jannah and the afterlife are central pillars of faith in Islam, representing the ultimate, eternal reward for a life of righteousness, belief, and moral conduct. It is viewed as an everlasting home of peace, bliss, and closeness to Allah, designed to be the final destination for the soul after the temporary test of earthly life.
This week on ‘BEHIND THE LENS with Queen Liz’, hosted by Elizabeth Essuman, and her guests, they take a walk down the roads of Heaven and Jannah alike — as the central pivot that both Christian and Muslim theologies fall back upon; it is the eventual reward that awaits whoever leads his or her life in service to God or Allah and in service to humanity.
In all this, on the other hand, the fear of death is one of humanity’s deepest emotions, but is it really about dying, or about what comes after? This thought got Queen Liz and her guests sharing deeper bits which explored two very different visions of the afterlife.
In a nutshell, Christians have it that there is a place free from sin, sorrow, aging, and death — where worship and divine peace take center stage; the Islam faith have it that theirs is a paradise where believers are promised eternal joy, fulfillment of desires, and rewards beyond imagination.
In soaking in this episode, remember that the singular objective is to bring clarity to the very simple things we believe here on Earth and the life after.
