Jill Scott is preparing to hit the road for her first headlining tour in five years, To Whom This May Concern, with stops across the U.S. and South Africa in the coming months.
However, she’s introducing a strict rule for the tour: no cellphones allowed during the concerts.
Fans will not be allowed to use cellphones or recording devices during her performances.
This is according to Ticketmaster, which outlined the rule on its ticketing platform.
It reads:
“Use of cellphones or recording devices (including smart glasses) will not be permitted in the performance space. Upon arrival at the venue, all phones and recording accessories will be secured in Yondr pouches that will be opened at the end of the event. Anyone seen using a non-permitted device during the performance will be escorted out of the venue. We appreciate your cooperation in creating a phone-free viewing experience.”
At this stage, Scott has not publicly addressed the ban.
It remains unclear whether the rule will apply to the entire tour, including the shows in South Africa.
The To Whom This May Concern tour will visit several major U.S. cities this summer and fall, including Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Oakland, Washington D.C., and Philadelphia. It will then move to Europe in September before concluding with two South African performances in November.
