The Bauchi State Government has commiserated with the government and people of Kebbi State over Monday’s attack on Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area.
The message of sympathy was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by Jalaludeen Maina, Public Relations Officer of the Bauchi State Ministry of Education.
Gunmen had invaded the girls’ boarding school early hour of Monday, killing the vice principal and a security guard, and abducting 25 female students.
The Bauchi Government described the incident as a painful setback for education in Kebbi and the country, stressing that the attack had caused deep sorrow beyond the affected community.
“The Bauchi State Ministry of Education stands in solidarity with the Kebbi State Ministry of Education, the affected families, and the entire community during this difficult time,” the statement said.
It prayed for the safe return of the schoolgirls and extended condolences to the families of those killed during the attack.
The government also commended the efforts of security agencies working to rescue the students and restore safety in the area.
It reaffirmed its support for Kebbi State and called for collective action to protect schools and ensure the safety of learners across the country.
