A Chief Magistrates’ Court in Wuse, Abuja, on Friday discharged two women, Veronica Toper and Favour Umukamoro, who were accused of disturbing public peace.
Magistrate Abubakar Sadiq struck out the case and withdrew the First Information Report (FIR) after the prosecution counsel, Simpa Ibrahim, applied for the matter to be dismissed.
Sadiq, however, cautioned both women to live peacefully and refrain from further disturbances. He also directed each of them to produce a guarantor who would undertake that they would not fight again.
Earlier, the prosecutor told the court that Toper and Umukamoro, who are roommates in Wuse Zone 6, engaged in a violent fight during which Toper bit Umukamoro on the breast. In retaliation, Umukamoro allegedly struck Toper on the head with a mug, causing injuries and disturbing public peace.
The offence contravenes Section 113 of the Penal Code.
