Man Utd captain Bruno Fernandes rejects Al-Hilal move

Bruno Fernandes Rejects Lucrative Al-Hilal Offer to Remain at Manchester United

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has reportedly turned down a massive offer from Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal, opting to remain at Old Trafford.

Al-Hilal were prepared to more than double Fernandes’ current salary, making him one of the highest-paid players in the world. However, after holding discussions with his family, the 30-year-old Portuguese midfielder decided against the move.

Fernandes is expected to address the situation publicly during a press conference on Tuesday, ahead of Portugal’s UEFA Nations League semi-final on Wednesday.

Manchester United are said to be pleased with his decision, with head coach Ruben Amorim—who previously worked with Fernandes at Sporting CP—confident that his captain would stay loyal to the club.

Despite widespread speculation, no direct negotiations took place between United and Al-Hilal, and the Premier League side never received an official bid. Reports indicate that Al-Hilal were prepared to offer between £80 million and £100 million to secure Fernandes’ signature before the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.

It remains to be seen whether Al-Hilal will now turn their attention to other transfer targets.

Since joining United from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020 for £47 million, Bruno Fernandes has made 290 appearances and scored 98 goals across all competitions, solidifying his status as a key figure at the club.
