Womba Africa Drumming and Dance Troupe to Embark on UK Tour This Autumn

Womba Africa Drumming and Dance, a celebrated cultural troupe from Ghana, is set to captivate audiences across the United Kingdom with a dynamic tour scheduled for September and October 2025. Renowned for their vibrant performances and the use of indigenous West African instruments, the group brings to life the rich cultural heritage of Ghana through powerful drumming, energetic dance, and evocative storytelling.

The name “Womba”, meaning “We are coming” in Ga—a Ghanaian dialect—reflects the troupe’s mission to share Africa’s cultural legacy with the world. With a growing international following, Womba Africa promises an unforgettable cultural experience rooted in tradition, rhythm, and community spirit.

As part of their UK tour, Womba Africa will host a three-day cultural workshop from September 18 to 20 at the Lewsey Community Centre in Luton. The workshop will delve into the history and evolution of traditional African dance styles, featuring authentic Ghanaian costumes and instruments. Participants will also enjoy storytelling sessions and receive hands-on instruction in dance techniques, offering a unique opportunity to engage directly with Ghanaian cultural practices.

The tour also features two live concerts, showcasing the troupe’s signature high-energy performances:

  • September 27 at Lewsey Community Centre, Luton
  • October 4 at The Plough, Farnham

Both concerts begin at 6:00 PM and promise an immersive evening of rhythm, movement, and cultural celebration.

Speaking on the tour preparations, Felix Nii Okai Nummello, manager of Womba Africa, expressed his enthusiasm: “We are excited to bring the spirit of Ghana to the UK. This tour is not just about performance—it’s about pride, heritage, and connecting cultures through the arts. We’re here to make Africa proud.”

Womba Africa’s UK tour offers an authentic and enriching cultural experience for audiences of all backgrounds. Through drumming, dance, and storytelling, the troupe aims to promote cross-cultural understanding and appreciation, proving once again that the heartbeat of Africa resonates far beyond its shores.
