Ghana Armwrestling Federation Strengthens Ties with GIS in Courtesy Visit to Comptroller-General Amadu
The Ghana Armwrestling Federation (GAF) paid a courtesy call on the Comptroller-General of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), Mr. Samuel Basintale Amadu, on May 20, 2025. The visit aimed to congratulate him on his recent appointment and to reinforce the longstanding partnership between the two institutions.
GAF President Charles Osei Asibey commended the GIS for its continued support of armwrestling since 2016, highlighting its significant contributions to the sport’s growth in Ghana. He specifically lauded the accomplishments of GIS personnel, including national team captain Edward Asamoah and world-class referee Nii Otoo Larkyne, both of whom have brought honor to the country through their involvement in the sport.
Asibey also cited GIS’s instrumental role in Ghana’s impressive performance at the 2023 Africa Games, where the nation secured 41 medals in armwrestling. He urged for sustained investment in sports development, noting that such efforts not only uplift athletes but also enhance the image of the Service.
In response, Mr. Amadu expressed appreciation for the visit and acknowledged the rich sports heritage within the GIS. He affirmed his commitment to revitalizing GIS sports teams and pledged continued collaboration with the Ghana Armwrestling Federation.
As a gesture of appreciation and solidarity, GAF presented a symbolic medal to the Comptroller-General to represent the strong bond between the Federation and the Service.
