Upcoming Summit to Explore How African Businesses Can Harness Technology for Sustainable Growth

An upcoming summit is set to spotlight how African businesses can leverage emerging technologies to drive sustainable growth and respond to evolving consumer behaviors in the digital age.

The event will serve as a strategic platform for innovators, marketers, and policymakers to explore the intersection of technology, marketing, and entrepreneurship in Africa. A key focus will be on translating digital engagement into tangible economic impact across the continent.

Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey Santana, Deputy CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, will deliver the keynote address at the summit’s official launch. Describing the event as a “pivotal moment for Africa’s marketing future,” Mr. Aggrey emphasized its broader vision:

“This conference goes beyond marketing tools—it’s about Africa’s place in global innovation and expanding youth opportunities,” he stated.
He also reaffirmed Ghana’s ambition to become a regional hub for tourism and business innovation.

The summit comes at a time of explosive growth in digital advertising. According to Statista, marketers worldwide spent nearly US$1.1 trillion on advertising in 2024, representing a 7.3% increase from the previous year. Digital advertising alone is projected to reach US$740 billion in 2025, with mobile platforms accounting for over 60% of that figure.

Despite this growth, African businesses continue to face challenges converting online traffic into brand loyalty and economic returns.

Ama Amoah, Vice President of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG), underscored the importance of aligning marketing with technological advancements.

“More than 70% of online shoppers abandon their carts,” she said, highlighting the need for improved user experience, trust, and value in digital strategies.
Topics on the agenda include AI-powered marketing, short-form video content, and consumer journey optimization.

Dr. Jannie Zaaiman, Secretary General of TICON Africa, noted that the summit reflects Africa’s evolving marketing landscape.

“Africa has shared challenges, but also collective ambition,” he said. “This summit is a step toward mapping a future rooted in local innovation and collaboration.”

The event is expected to draw over 500 delegates and will feature expert panels, exhibitions, and networking sessions. The summit will bring together industry leaders to discuss critical issues such as retail trends, digital content dominance, and data ethics.

David Gowu, President of TICON Africa, stressed the importance of collaboration:

“This platform allows Africa’s technology and marketing leaders to innovate together. It’s also a space to engage youth and women in shaping the future of digital services.”

With Gen Z and Millennials now making up more than 60% of global online consumers, Gowu emphasized their pivotal role in Africa’s growth story:

“The youth are not just the future—they are the present. This summit gives them the voice and opportunity to contribute meaningfully.”

Organizers are calling on corporate Ghana and regional institutions to support and partner with the summit.

“This is your opportunity to align with a transformative vision for Africa,” Mr. Gowu concluded.
