Joy Sports’ Nathaniel Attoh unites classmates to fund legacy project for St. Augustine’s College

Nathaniel “Citizen” Attoh Leads Legacy Project for St. Augustine’s College Class of 2001

Last Friday night, renowned broadcaster Nathaniel “Citizen” Attoh (APSU 2001) hosted a spirited event at the Aviation Social Center Hall, where he joined his classmates from St. Augustine’s College to launch a major legacy initiative. The goal: to construct an ultra-modern canteen for their alma mater, fondly known as Augusco.

The Class of 2001 unveiled the ambitious March 2026 project, which is expected to cost approximately ₵8 million. Leading the way in support was Dr. James Ato Orleans Lindsay, CEO of JL Properties, who made a remarkable donation of ₵1.3 million at the launch.

The night was filled with music from The Characters Band, delicious food, and an atmosphere of networking and nostalgia. Alumni exchanged fond memories and reconnected, building on the strong sense of brotherhood that defines the Augusco spirit.

“With God on our side and our sustained personal efforts, we will get there,” Attoh shared during the event, capturing the passion and purpose driving the initiative.

Augusco’s Legacy of Excellence

Founded in 1930 by the Catholic Archdiocese in Cape Coast, St. Augustine’s College has a long-standing reputation for academic excellence, discipline, and leadership development. Its motto, Omnia Vincit Labor (“Perseverance conquers all”), is more than a phrase—it’s a way of life that continues to inspire generations.

Over the years, the Augustinian Past Students’ Union (APSU) has played a vital role in supporting the school’s development through transformational projects:

  • APSU 1999 refurbished an 18-unit classroom block at a cost of ₵5.22 million.
  • APSU 2000 modernized the Junior Science Block with a US$390,000 investment.
  • Other alumni-led efforts have improved the school’s library, staff accommodation, and student learning environments.

A Canteen Beyond Meals

More than just a dining facility, the planned canteen is designed to be a modern, hygienic space that offers students and staff access to nutritious meals in a world-class environment. It symbolizes the school’s forward-thinking commitment to holistic education and student well-being.

As the APSU 2001 group continues its fundraising campaign, they are calling on the broader global Augusco community to join the effort. The project is seen as a collective mission—a symbol of gratitude and vision for future generations.

Looking Ahead to 2030 and Beyond

With St. Augustine’s College approaching its centenary celebration in 2030, each legacy project adds another milestone to its proud tradition of excellence and community-driven growth.
