Afrobeats stars Ayodeji “Wizkid” Balogun and Ahmed “Asake” Ololade have thrilled fans with the announcement of their first collaborative extended play (EP), Real Vol. 1.
The duo revealed the release date during their Apple Music Radio takeover interview, as shared on the platform’s X page on Friday.
Wizkid, 35, confirmed that the EP will drop later this month. “Special announcement: 2025, clear road. Mr Money and Big Wiz, our project is called Real, and it will be released this December for the people. One time, Vol. 1,” he said.
To tease the project, Nigerian-American DJ Michael “DJ Tunez” Adeyinka shared a snippet of one of the tracks, titled Jogodo, on his X page.
The song highlights both artists’ lyrical skill, with Asake delivering smooth Yoruba vocals.
Wizkid follows with a verse referencing the track’s title, noting they are “trying to kill him with alcohol (ogogoro).”
While Real Vol. 1 marks their first joint EP, it is not the first time the artists have worked together.
Asake previously featured Wizkid on MMS, a single from his third studio album, Lungu Boy, released on 5 October 2024.
That album also included collaborations with international stars such as Travis Scott, Stormzy, Central Cee, and Ludmilla, blending Afrobeats with global sounds.
Additionally, Wizkid had previously listed Asake, along with Rema, Odumodublvck, Bloody Civilian, and Shallipopi, among his favourite Nigerian artistes in a now-deleted Instagram Story, describing them as “superstars” and giving a special shout-out to Shallipopi.
