It is often said that the continent of Africa is more Catholic than the Pope, and whatever that means was touched on this week’s ‘The Real Talk Podcast’ hosted by Elizabeth Essuman and her panelists, with guest, Pan Africanist who doubles as the CEO of Common Sense Family, Avraham Ben Moshe.
According to Karl Max, “Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people.” In sharing same sentiment, Avraham Ben Moshe said on the podcast that, “Religion is a legalized madness – everything is taught to be accepted without questions.”

Touching on different aspects of religion, he reemphasized the fact that both the church and the mosque have become havens of obsolete dogmas, medieval intolerance and stone age abuse of the rights of the congregation all in the name of God.
He buttressed his points with scriptures and asked nerve racking questions of faith and reasoning, of spirituality as an individual journey which should not be an intimidation of one’s belief-system.
“The whole aim of questioning religion is to help my society regain belief in themselves, and whatever they trust in and put away the complexes of the years of colonisation with a Jewish ‘story book’ which have virtually disrupted our cohesion and violated our pride as a people with a rich, deep culture before the white man stumbled on our territory and scattered everything – with their books and gun powder to counter our traditions.” The motivator and inspirational speaker said on ‘The Real Talk Podcast’.
According to Avraham, “Christianity for example is all about trust and obey, do not question; and that’s because the pastors themselves do not have answers to the many questions raised.”
“But now, Africa and the world at large are gradually waking up to the reality of its independent existence, from some religious upstarts and misguided elements who want to recolonise our minds with their jaundiced and patently hypocritical views on everything.” He added.
As you watch this episode, be open minded and enjoy every bit of the intellectual discourse – it will be worth your time.
