Renowned journalist Tshidi Madia has passed away on Wednesday, 27 August 2025 after short illness.
She was at 42.
The family shared a statement on Wednesday confirming the loss and expressing deep grief.
According to the family, Madia died following a short illness and subsequent hospitalisation.

“The Madia family announces, with deep sadness, the passing of their beloved daughter and sister, Tshidi Madia.
Tshidi passed away this morning after a short illness and hospitalisation. A respected journalist, she loved South Africa deeply and devoted her career to telling its stories.
She brought joy and love to all who knew her, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
The family will share funeral details in due course”.
With more than ten years in media, Tshidi Madia became a respected figure in South African political journalism. Serving as associate politics editor at Eyewitness News, she was known for her fearless reporting and commitment to telling impactful stories.
In one of her most prominent assignments this year, she reported from the Oval Office during a historic engagement between President Cyril Ramaphosa and then-U.S. President Donald Trump.
