On Wednesday (13 Aug), the NBA approved the $6.1 billion sale of the Boston Celtics to an investment group led by Bill Chisholm, five months after the deal was agreed.
The league said the transaction is expected to close soon
Once complete, Bill Chisholm will take control of at least 51% of the Boston Celtics.
By 2028, Chisholm is set to assume full control, with the total value of the agreement potentially reaching $7.3 billion.
In this deal, Chisholm topped offers from at least two rivals, among them ex-Celtics investor Steve Pagliuca, who has since announced plans to purchase and move the Connecticut Sun to Boston for $325 million, though the WNBA has pushed back.
