Come September, AYRA STARR & TYLA to represent Africa at Global Citizen Festival in New York

South African superstar Tyla and Nigerian singer Ayra Starr are set to shine on the global stage as headliners for the 2025 Global Citizen Festival in New York City.

Global Citizen is a movement dedicated to ending extreme poverty and tackling urgent global challenges. This year’s festival focuses on giving energy access to one million Africans, improving education for 30,000 children worldwide, protecting 30 million hectares of the Amazon, and rallying 40,000 New York volunteers.

The festival is set to take over Central Park on Saturday, 27 September 2025, and the lineup will also include The Weeknd and Shakira, and hosted by long-time Global Citizen ambassador Hugh Jackman.

Global Citizen CEO Hugh Evans says the mission is clear: “Ending extreme poverty is within our reach – but only if we come together to ensure governments and corporations deliver on their promises: scaling up renewable energy, protecting the Amazon, and investing in education for the next generation.”

True to Global Citizen’s ethos, tickets to the festival aren’t sold—they’re earned.

Supporters can secure entry by signing petitions, emailing world leaders, or volunteering through the Global Citizen app or website, turning action into access.
