Yet again the ingenuity of one of Africa’s best directors – Shirley Frimpong-Manso came to bare, as she brought stage aficionados and first timers together to create magic and remind us all that sometimes if not always, simplicity is genius in ‘HONEYMOON HOTEL’.
As sure as night follows day, we knew that the play was going to be enthralling, we knew that with the casts – Joselyn Dumas, Andrew Tandoh-Adote, James Gardiner, Ama K. Abebrese, Gadede Segbefia, Godwin Namboh, Jasmine Baroudi, Amanda Jissih, David Dontoh, et al – put together, nothing short of interesting would be the outcome.
HONEYMOON HOTEL’s plot was relatively simple, and engaging with beautiful twists in-between from beginning to end; truthfully, the story explored a meaningful theme that resonated with the audience.
Round of applause to the casts who drove the plot through their characters on stage and made their dialogues realistic, clear, concise, and natural.
We cannot fail to mention that the way the stage was set, from props, scenery, and set design; it enhanced and created the desired atmosphere.
Lighting and sound effects added a whole lot to the emotional impact of the play, establishing a strong connection with the audience.
For all those who devoted their June-weekend to watch HONEYMOON HOTEL, you’d agree with us that the play left a lasting impression of a compelling love-story, one that will be discussed for a long time until we meet again to appreciate our very own Ghanaian craft.
