Local Bank Supports Students, School Infrastructure, and Community Development in Jacobu
A number of freshmen and continuing students from various nursing and teacher-training colleges, as well as universities, have been selected as beneficiaries of a scholarship initiative. These students are currently pursuing a wide range of academic programs.
Support for Jacobu Senior High Technical School
In a related development, Jacobu Senior High Technical School submitted a request to the bank for assistance in addressing infrastructural needs. Specifically, they sought support for the procurement of a water pump and cable wire to serve the girls’ dormitory.
After reviewing the request, the Board of Directors approved an amount of GH¢10,400.00 to facilitate the purchase of the required items.
Jacobu Traditional Council Receives Community Support
The Jacobu Traditional Council also reached out to the bank, requesting support for a community improvement project. Their goal is to construct a permanent station for tricycle (Aboboyaa) drivers in order to help reduce traffic congestion within Jacobu Township.
The Board approved the donation of 100 bags of cement, valued at GH¢11,500.00, to support the council’s efforts in enhancing transportation infrastructure.
Presentation and Remarks from the Bank’s Leadership
The CEO of the bank, Mr. Abraham Coffie, presented the cheque to Mr. Justice Joseph Osei Krah, Headmaster of Jacobu Senior High Technical School, who received it on behalf of the school and students.
In an interview with the Business & Financial Times, Mr. Coffie explained the criteria used in selecting scholarship beneficiaries. He noted that:
- Applicants must come from the bank’s operational area.
- Their parents or guardians must be shareholders of the bank.
- The student must be academically promising but financially needy.
Mr. Coffie expressed his hope that the financial support would serve as a motivation for students to excel academically and develop their skills and potential. He encouraged the beneficiaries to focus on their studies and stay away from distractions that could derail their progress.
“We want to see these students grow into responsible citizens who will make meaningful contributions to national development,” Mr. Coffie stated.
