Zanzibar President lauds Zoomlion’s success in Ghana, Africa

Zoomlion Ghana Limited Explores Strategic Partnership with Zanzibar to Boost Environmental Sustainability

Zoomlion Ghana Limited, a subsidiary of the Jospong Group of Companies (JGC), has taken a significant step in its Africa Expansion agenda through a high-level engagement with the President of Zanzibar, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi. The meeting focused on enhancing waste management systems and promoting environmental sustainability across the region.

This strategic dialogue underscores Zoomlion’s commitment to implementing innovative and sustainable sanitation solutions throughout Africa. Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong, Executive Chairman of JGC, described the meeting as productive and forward-thinking, highlighting discussions around practical interventions to tackle waste challenges.

Dr. Agyepong noted that the partnership aligns with Zoomlion’s broader strategy to collaborate with progressive African governments in building cleaner, healthier cities and communities. He emphasized that waste management is not just a challenge, but an opportunity—one that can fuel innovation, create jobs, and drive economic growth.

Key topics discussed included the deployment of advanced waste sorting technologies, the development of engineered landfills, and the introduction of community-based waste collection systems designed to generate employment and empower local populations.

President Mwinyi expressed strong interest in Zoomlion’s achievements in Ghana and other African nations, recognizing the potential for similar successes in Zanzibar. He stressed the importance of technical expertise and strategic partnerships in achieving the island’s environmental goals.

In response, Zoomlion pledged to offer comprehensive support—including technical know-how, investment, and capacity-building initiatives—to aid Zanzibar’s waste management transformation and environmental development.

This collaboration marks a meaningful step toward sustainable urban development in Africa, driven by shared goals and a commitment to innovation.
