Franklin Cudjoe Questions OSP’s Approach in Declaring Ken Ofori-Atta Wanted
Franklin Cudjoe, President of IMANI Africa, has taken a swipe at the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) following its decision to declare former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta wanted. In a sarcastic post on X (formerly Twitter), Cudjoe questioned why no bounty was offered for Ofori-Atta’s arrest.
Referencing old cowboy movies where bounties were placed on fugitives, Cudjoe quipped, “I wonder why the OSP is declaring persons wanted without adding a bounty.” He went on to jokingly propose a fictional reward of $58,000 for the former minister.
His remarks come in the wake of the OSP rejecting Ofori-Atta’s request to be interrogated virtually. Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng insisted that Ofori-Atta must appear in person, stressing that all suspects are required to be physically present during investigations.
“A suspect does not choose how investigations are conducted,” Agyebeng stated. He further revealed that the OSP had initiated an INTERPOL Red Notice request for Ofori-Atta—a move that could result in his international arrest and extradition.
The Special Prosecutor’s office is investigating Ofori-Atta for alleged financial loss to the state. The accusations include matters linked to the controversial National Cathedral project and contracts involving various entities.
