Black Satellites Drawn in Group A for Inaugural WAFU U-20 Boys’ Cup
Ghana’s Black Satellites have been placed in Group A for the maiden edition of the WAFU U-20 Boys’ Cup, which kicks off later this month.
The tournament, featuring U-20 national teams from West Africa, will run from June 15 to June 30, with 13 countries confirmed to participate. Originally, all 16 West African nations were expected, but a few have withdrawn from this first edition.
Ghana will face Togo, Gambia, and Liberia in Group A as they aim to make a strong impression on home soil.
The draw for the tournament was conducted earlier this week, with all participating teams now aware of their group-stage opponents.
Group Breakdown:
- Group A: Ghana, Togo, Gambia, Liberia
- Group B: Nigeria (defending champions), Burkina Faso, Guinea, Niger, Mali
- Group C: Senegal, Sierra Leone, Côte d’Ivoire, Benin
All group-stage and knockout matches will be played at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, a key development hub for Ghanaian football.
The grand final is set to take place at the University of Ghana Stadium, providing a fitting stage for what promises to be a thrilling conclusion to the regional tournament.
The WAFU U-20 Boys’ Cup offers young talent a platform to shine and serves as a key preparatory tournament for future continental and global competitions.
