YEA Partners with Shatta Wale’s SHAXI to Create Thousands of Jobs for Ghanaian Youth

The Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Mr. Malik Basintale, has announced a groundbreaking partnership with Ghanaian dancehall icon Shatta Wale and his innovative ride-hailing initiative, SHAXI. The collaboration aims to create thousands of sustainable jobs for young people across the country.

Under the new partnership, the YEA will support the first 2,000 vehicles registered on the SHAXI platform by providing GHC500 worth of fuel coupons per vehicle each month for six months. The initiative is designed to lower operational costs, attract unemployed youth, and boost participation in the growing digital transport economy.

A Vision for Youth Empowerment

Mr. Basintale described the partnership as a milestone in government-private sector collaboration, demonstrating the power of uniting public institutions with creative industry leaders.

“This initiative reflects what is possible when government and innovative minds come together,” he said.
“We are not just creating jobs—we are transforming lives.”

The program is also designed to maximize employment potential. Each SHAXI vehicle is expected to employ at least two drivers, working in shifts to ensure 24-hour service. This structure not only enhances productivity and income for drivers but doubles the employment impact.

Shatta Wale: “This Is Bigger Than a Ride-Hailing App”

Shatta Wale, the founder of SHAXI, expressed his excitement about the collaboration and reiterated his commitment to youth empowerment.

“This is bigger than just a ride-hailing app,” he said.
“It’s about giving young Ghanaians real opportunities and a chance at a better future.”

He highlighted the partnership as a model for public-private cooperation, emphasizing the importance of leveraging the influence and resources of the creative industry to address national issues such as youth unemployment.

A Blueprint for National Impact

The partnership between YEA and SHAXI is poised to serve as a blueprint for future impact-driven collaborations that combine technology, creativity, and public support. It represents a bold step forward in the effort to empower Ghana’s youth and build an inclusive economic future.
