A letter was sent to OSP over Ken Ofori-Atta’s inability to be in Ghana – Frank Davies

Ken Ofori-Atta’s Legal Team Informs OSP of Medical Absence Amid Ongoing Investigation

Frank Davies, a member of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta’s legal team, has disclosed that the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) was formally notified of Ofori-Atta’s medical condition, which currently prevents him from returning to Ghana for questioning.

Speaking on Joy FM on June 2, 2025, Mr. Davies revealed that a letter was dispatched to the OSP on May 27, stating that Mr. Ofori-Atta is receiving medical treatment in the United States. As a result, he is unable to attend an in-person interrogation as requested by the OSP.

Despite confirming that the letter was properly sent, Mr. Davies noted that the OSP has yet to acknowledge receipt of the communication.

Tensions Escalate

This development comes amid rising tensions between Mr. Ofori-Atta and the OSP. The Special Prosecutor has issued a stern warning, indicating that if Ofori-Atta fails to appear by June 2, he risks being declared a fugitive once again—a move that could trigger an INTERPOL Red Notice for his international arrest.

Ofori-Atta, who previously served as Finance Minister under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, is currently under investigation for suspected corruption in relation to five major public transactions. The allegations are part of a broader probe into financial misconduct involving high-level officials.

The legal standoff continues to draw public attention, as the OSP considers its next steps in a case with potentially far-reaching political and legal implications.
