Nana Agradaa Defends Sammy Gyamfi’s $800 Gift Amid NDC Backlash
Controversial Ghanaian personality Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, has responded to critics questioning Sammy Gyamfi’s recent $800 gift to her. In a viral video circulating on social media, Agradaa called on supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to stop condemning the gesture, describing the backlash as “unnecessary and unfounded.”
Agradaa downplayed the significance of the dollar gift, stating:
“How much is $800? NDC supporters shouldn’t feel aggrieved because of this.”
She urged critics to shift their perspective, viewing the gift not as a political misstep but as a “divine blessing.” Citing scripture, Agradaa said:
“The Bible says you should not covet your neighbour’s blessings.”
She encouraged NDC supporters to pray for similar blessings rather than harbor resentment, arguing that embracing goodwill fosters a more positive spirit within the party and beyond.
Agradaa also issued a warning to those quick to criticize:
“If you condemn the act and someone blesses you, it becomes a curse.”
Her comments come in the wake of intense online debate, with some NDC members questioning the appropriateness of Gyamfi—who serves as the party’s National Communications Officer—gifting dollars to a figure as polarizing as Agradaa. Concerns were raised about the political optics and possible implications of the gesture.
Despite the uproar, Agradaa remains firm in her stance, characterizing the gift as a personal act of kindness rather than a political statement. She insists it should not be interpreted as a provocation or endorsement.
