Article Wan Criticizes “Ugly” Campaigning for TGMA Artiste of the Year
Ghanaian musician Article Wan has expressed strong disapproval of the current campaign tactics surrounding the Artiste of the Year category at the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), calling them “ugly” and “nasty.”
In an interview with Amansan Kwakye, the “Solo” hitmaker voiced his frustration over what he sees as excessive and aggressive promotion by some nominees, particularly those who have hired public relations officers to push their campaigns.
“Truth be told, this year’s TGMA Artiste of the Year campaign is very annoying,” he remarked, clearly unimpressed by the lengths some artists are going to win the top award.
He continued with a pointed critique: “What kind of nonsense are we doing to ourselves? We need breathing space.”
Article Wan stressed that while everyone wants to win, the reality is that only one artist will ultimately take home the title. He added that the overly competitive atmosphere, especially on social media, has made online spaces uncomfortable and exhausting.
As the TGMA approaches, his comments highlight a growing concern about how the quest for recognition may be overshadowing the spirit of the celebration.
