Criss Waddle Gifts GH₵2,000 to TikTok Star Famela GH for Promoting Ghanaian Music

Ghanaian rapper Criss Waddle has shown support for rising TikTok creator and musician Famela GH, sending him GH₵2,000 to encourage his efforts in promoting local music. The donation comes on the heels of Davido’s viral $5,000 gift to another content creator, sparking conversations around artist support for digital creatives.

Famela GH has earned attention for his nostalgic TikTok performances of classic Ghanaian hits. With over 100,000 views, his videos celebrate the golden era of hiplife music, showcasing songs by icons like Sarkodie, Yaa Pono, and Criss Waddle himself.

In a recent TikTok post, Famela performed Waddle’s 2016 hit “Bie Gya.” He later shared a screenshot of the Mobile Money transfer and expressed gratitude for the rapper’s surprise donation.

Criss Waddle accompanied the gesture with a short message:

“Bro, take this 2000, buy data. Thanks for the support.”

The act has been widely praised online, especially amid criticisms that Ghanaian artists are often stingy or unappreciative of content creators who amplify their work. Many fans applauded Waddle’s generosity, while some humorously compared it to artists who “calculate their donations too carefully.”

The donation also follows the trending story of Nigerian superstar Davido, who gifted $5,000 to Ananzo, a young man who moved viewers with an emotional TikTok rendition of his song “With You.”

Meanwhile, singer Efya has spoken out in defense of Ghanaian musicians, addressing accusations that they fail to support fans and creators. She cited a significant earnings gap between Ghanaian and Nigerian artists, noting that while Nigerians benefit from higher-paying shows and endorsements, Ghanaian artists still find ways to give back.

“It’s not about being stingy. Our industry just doesn’t pay as much,” Efya explained, emphasizing that many Ghanaian musicians quietly make contributions to their communities and supporters.

Criss Waddle’s donation, however modest compared to Davido’s, has reignited conversations about artist-fan relationships and the importance of supporting local creatives in meaningful ways.
